DAAC Data Products
The Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) archives and distributes brightness temperature data, polar atmosphere data, satellite imagery, sea ice data, snow cover data, and ice sheet data. All NSIDC data, including our DAAC data, are described and available via NSIDC Data Products and Services. Our DAAC data only are described here.
Climate Data Records
The NSIDC DAAC plans to create sea ice and snow satellite Climate Data Records (CDRs) in order to provide the climate data necessary for scientists, decision makers, and stakeholders to make adaptive choices regarding climate change and vulnerability.
Digital Elevation Models
NSIDC uses polar ice sheet elevation data sets to create surface elevation maps of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. The maps contribute to the study of glaciers, ice sheets, ice streams, and ice shelves. Many of the maps produced from elevation data sets are Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), which facilitate ice sheet mass balance investigations and tracking of long-term changes in the polar ice sheets.
