HIMALA: Climate Impacts on Glaciers in the Himalaya Region

HIMALA is a NASA project that will provide water resources management information on Himalyan glacier fed rivers in Asia using NASA’s satellite remote sensing, as well as projections of climate change impacts on water resources. OK?

HMGWP: High Mountain Glacial Watershed Program

HMGWP [http://adaptationpartnership.org/communities/high-mountain-glacial-watershed-program] is a Community of Practice (CoP) to improve exchange information, to and mobilize resources for applied research and multistakeholder-based action projects in the high mountains between researchers, practitioners, and planners in  the Hindu Kush-Himalaya, Andes, Central Asian, and other high mountain regions.

GLIMS: Global Land Ice Measurements from Space

More than sixty institutions world-wide are working with the GLIMS project (Global Land Ice Measurements from Space) [http://nsidc.org/glims/] to build a glacier inventory storing critical information about the extent and rates of change of the world’s estimated 160,000 glaciers. CHARIS will use glacier outlines from GLIMS, along with other sources, to validated glacier maps from MODIS.
