   Next-Generation Radar (NEXRAD) Weather Surveillance Radar 1988 (WSR-88D) 
   measurements were used to support AMSR-E rainfall validation efforts in 
   Eureka, California, USA. WSR-88D radar has a measurement range radius of 
   150-200 km. It measures instantaneous rain rate, stratiform/convective rain 
   type, in addition to radar reflectivity, with a 2 km resolution for most 
   products. Level 2 and level 3 products are available from NOAA National 
   Climatic Data Center.

   The Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) 
   is a mission instrument launched aboard NASA's Aqua Satellite on 04 May 2002. 
   AMSR-E validation studies linked to rainfall experiments are designed to 
   evaluate the accuracy of AMSR-E precipitation data.
