Johannessen, O.M., et al. 2007. Remote sensing of the sea ice in the Northern Sea route: studies and applications. Chichester, UK: Praxis Publishing. The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) in St. Petersburg, Russia, produces sea ice charts for safety of navigation in the polar regions and for other operational and scientific purposes. Arctic charts from 1933 through 2006 are collected in this data set. Chart frequency and spatial coverage varies, but charts were compiled every 10 days during the navigation season, and monthly for the rest of the year, over most of the series. There is a gap with no charts from 1993 through 1996. Chart coverage focuses on the Northern Sea Route, although later charts extend into the central Arctic. The charts were compiled from a variety of data sources, with heavy reliance on regular reconnaissance flights for most of the series until 1992.VIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttps://doi.org/10.7265/N5D21VHJDocumentationGET DATAhttps://noaadata.apps.nsidc.org/NOAA/G02176/HTTPSVIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g00799.htmlArctic and Southern Ocean Sea Ice ConcentrationsVIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g01111.htmlThe Dehn Collection of Arctic Sea Ice Charts, 1953-1986VIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g01962.htmlEnvironmental Working Group Joint U.S.-Russian Arctic Sea Ice AtlasVIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g02172.htmlNational Ice Center Arctic Sea Ice Charts and Climatologies in Gridded FormatVIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g02186.htmlMultisensor Analyzed Sea Ice Extent - Northern Hemisphere (MASIE-NH)VIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g02182.htmlSea Ice Edge Location and Extent in the Russian Arctic, 1933-2006VIEW RELATED INFORMATIONhttp://nsidc.org/data/g02169.htmlMarch through August Ice Edge Positions in the Nordic Seas, 1750-2002.CEOS IDN DIFVERSION 9.92007-11-122024-02-27NSIDCVersion SummaryInitial release.NSIDCMinor VersionNSIDCCurrent Version1NSIDCLevel of ServiceStandardNSIDCFull Dataset CitationArctic and Antarctic Research Institute. 2007. Sea Ice Charts of the Russian Arctic in Gridded Format, 1933-2006. Compiled by V.
