The National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) on the University of Colorado at Boulder East Campus has an opening for a part-time student programmer to support the programming needs of the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) product teams. A primary component of the position will be investigating and implementing methods of visualizing MODIS and GLAS through virtual globes technologies such as Google Earth.
Also desired is interest in and knowledge about geographic concepts such as geographic projections, experience developing KML files for Google Earth or the equivalent for other virtual earth products, and familiarity with remote sensing techniques.
